To successfully install the Edge Worker, please ensure you have:
Access to EdgeWorkers, which is enabled via Akamai Marketplace.
The EdgeWorker Resource Tier of "Dynamic Compute". The lower resource tier is not sufficient.
The EdgeWorker code bundle provided by Netacea.
Completed the Proxy Property Configuration.
Please click on the 'EdgeWorkers' link that can be found under the 'CDN'. The screen should then change to the below:
You will then need to click 'Create EdgeWorker ID'. The screen should then change to display a similar page to the one below:
In order to properly deploy the Netacea Akamai integration, it is required to create an EdgeWorker ID and properly configure the Akamai Property within a group.
The first stage of this will be to create an EdgeWorker ID.
Create a Name. This could be whatever fits your needs.
In the Group, selection select one where you will have the property that you wish to set up for this integration.
For the Resource Tier, it is important that the worker is set to Dynamic Compute. The lower resource tier is not sufficient for our needs.
You will then need to click on the EdgeWorker ID that you have just created, and this will then change the screen to a page similar to the one below:
You should be able to see a 'Create Version' button on the right-hand side of the screen - please click on this. You should then be displayed on a screen like the one below:
Please add the code bundle that Netacea has provided to you here and then click the 'Create Version' button. Once this has been completed, the bundle should have been uploaded and you should be able to see a screen like the one below:
The following steps will explain how to activate a version of an EdgeWorker. The steps shown will enable the EdgeWorker in the Staging Network, however, the process to activate it on the Production Network is essentially the same process.
To activate a version, visit the EdgeWorkers area under the CDN menu and select the EdgeWorker that requires activation. Click the '…' under the Actions heading and select the 'Activate Version' button. This can be seen in the screenshot below:
Once you have done this, a new window will appear. Please ensure that the version that you wish to activate is populated within the 'Version' drop-down box.
To activate on staging, ensure that 'Staging' is selected in the Network drop-down box. If you wish to activate on production, please ensure that 'Production' is selected in the Network drop-down box. You will need to deploy to both.
Once this has been completed, the window should change back to the EdgeWorker page and should show you the activation history tab of the EdgeWorker like in the screenshot below:
After the EdgeWorker is installed, it is recommended the testing is done against a Staging Network. Activate it on the Production Network by repeating the process above and selecting Production in the Network drop-down box.
